SANNE TERWEIJ
Creative Chemistry
Jade green, lush purple, burnt orange and teal; mesmerising wall objects made out of hundreds of handcut metal pieces like brass and copper. All in different stages of transformation, their surfaces shimmering and constantly changing with the moving light and the position of the viewer. Terweij sets to work with various chemical processes and interventions to create a variety of colours, exploring the oxidative properties of her materials. Pure and unpolished, the oxidised shapes form a contrast with their shiny and brushed counterparts, intertwined into timeless yet outspoken pieces.
