The Raw Edge Bench addresses local marble industry sustainability by reintegrating the underutilized green serpentine into interior design, which was historically prized for the upscale residential flooring in eastern Taiwan, but is facing reduced use as a result of other imported alternatives. Upon visiting a manufacturing facility, we recognized the potential for repurposing discarded pieces from slab cutting, and developed an energy-efficient process, showcasing the inherent beauty of the green serpentine, through a precision-demanding 45° bevel on the edges.
