Bronze relief plaque from the Kingdom of Ife in Nigeria representing King OBA surrounded by his followers and warriors. The bronze plaques of the Kingdom of Benin, located in present-day Nigeria, are among the best known and most admired works of African art. They were created to adorn royal palaces, celebrate the exploits of kings (Obas), and document important historical and ritual events. The central figure, the king, Oba is sitting, surrounded by four other standing figures who seem to be protecting or serving her.
