The Bi Disc is a carved and round disc with a hole in the middle. The form dates back to the Neolithic period and sometimes decorated with motifs, animals or characters. It is believed that their original meaning was related to the sun or the afterlife. In China, it was believed that jade had magical properties, so a Jade Bi Disc was considered a link between earth and sky and therefore a symbol of power and status of the dominant class.
