This European astrolabe has been set to 41° latitude. Even though its scale is considerably reduced and it is a very complex instrument, it could be used to learn its parts and the basis for use. A real expert could play more. The Astrolabe, considered to be the mathematical jewel of the Middle Ages, was until the end of the 17th century the most used instrument in the entire history of Astronomy. It is still in force because it allows us to understand, in a clear and simple way, the celestial mechanism and the apparent movement of stars.
