These bronze sculptures are unique pieces by the Burkinabe artist Alain Soré. Bronze work is a tradition in Burkina Faso. The term bronze refers to various alloys based on copper, zinc, lead, and tin. The artist first creates a wax sculpture that is covered with a mixture of clay and dung and then dried. The mold is then baked, the wax melts and escapes through an opening in the mold. The molten alloy is cast and takes the place of the wax. Once cooled, the mold is broken in order to extract the sculpture. Each piece is therefore unique.
